After attaining his Ph.D. in 1969, George Thomas Tait became associate professor of Exercise and Sport Science at Pennsylvania State University, and head volleyball coach, 1972-1989, after helping both the men's and women's club teams to reach varsity status. He also coached the United States Olympic volleyball teams, 1984 and 1988.
